RALEIGH, N. Matt Calvert Jersey .C. -- For more than 60 minutes, the Columbus Blue Jackets just couldnt manage to give their power-play unit a chance. Once they finally went up a man in overtime, Ryan Johansen made it count. Johansen scored a power-play goal at 2:40 of the extra session to lead Columbus past the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 on Saturday night. "I was talking to the ref, I was like, Come on, we need a power play," Johansen said with a laugh. "We have confidence in our power play, so if we get opportunities, we feel were at least going to get a lot of momentum out of it and get some chances." Artem Anisimov had a goal and an assist and Matt Calvert also scored to help the Blue Jackets earn an important two points in their push for the second playoff berth in club history and first since 2009. "We can pat ourselves on the back for this one, but starting (Sunday) and the day after, weve got to move on," defenceman Dalton Prout said. "Theres still lots of work to be done, and for the most part, we control our own fate. Its a good feeling." Jeff Skinner and Andrei Loktionov scored and Riley Nash had two assists for the Hurricanes, who fell to 6-11 since the Olympic break. "We seem to be finding ways ... to lose," Carolina captain Eric Staal said. "Its not like were completely out of it every night. Were in the battle. "For whatever reason, we cant seem to get that one that falls for us and it goes the other direction," Staal added. "Our compete, our work ethic, for the most part has been there. Weve got guys that care. Weve got guys that try. Thats not our problem." Curtis McElhinney made 25 saves for Columbus in his second straight start in place of flu-stricken starter Sergei Bobrovsky. The decisive sequence started midway through OT when Brandon Dubinsky rang the left post. Goalie Anton Khudobin couldnt cover the puck, but forward Jiri Tlusty did -- drawing a delay of game penalty and giving the Blue Jackets their first power play of the night at 1:54. Johansen then ended it with a snap shot from between the circles that trickled past Khudobin, who stopped 29 shots in his second consecutive start for Carolina. Loktionov put the Hurricanes up 2-1 when he took a feed from Nash in the circle and snapped the puck past McElhinney with 13:22 left. But for the second time in the game, the Blue Jackets struck back quickly to tie it. This time it was Anisimov, who pushed the rebound of Nathan Hortons shot past Khudobin 50 seconds later. "We found a way to claw back," Johansen said. These teams entered on opposite ends of the playoff spectrum, with the Blue Jackets taking the ice in a four-way tie for two Eastern Conference wild cards. Carolina is mathematically alive for just its second post-season berth since winning the 2006 Stanley Cup, but the Hurricanes -- who entered seven points behind that cluster of four teams -- have a long way to go to catch up. "We dont think were out yet," coach Kirk Muller said. "Were going to push." For much of this game, offensive chances were few for both teams. Khudobin made the save of the night midway through the first period when he slid across the net to thwart Blake Comeau on a 2-on-1. "They knew we were on a back-to-back with travel," Prout said. "They came out hard and I think they carried the play. But we weathered the storm and I think we fought back." The scoring pace picked up near the end of the second: Skinner finally broke through for Carolina when he scored with 3:31 left in the second. He snatched the rebound of rookie Elias Lindholms shot and chipped the puck over defenceman David Savard for his team-leading third goal this season against Columbus. Calvert tied it with 1:14 left in the period when he snapped the puck past Khudobin after a takeaway -- the first goal allowed by the Hurricanes goalie in a span of 121 minutes, 49 seconds. NOTES: Calvert has goals in two straight games. ... Skinner has a four-game points streak and has four points in five games against the Blue Jackets this season. Joonas Korpisalo Jersey . Bach, a 59-year-old German lawyer, was elected Tuesday as president of the International Olympic Committee. He succeeds Jacques Rogge, who stepped down after 12 years. Bach, the longtime favourite, defeated five candidates in a secret ballot for the most influential job in international sports, keeping the presidency in European hands. Jordan Schroeder Jersey . Alastair Cook has revealed England will name an unchanged team for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka which starts at Lord’s on Thursday. Jesse Puljujarvi Jersey . England have claimed emphatic victories in the opening two Tests of the three-match series at Headingley and Chester-le-Street and have opted to stick with the line-up that prevailed by nine wickets at the Emirates Riverside last time.All-rounder Chris Woakes replaced the injured Ben Stokes for the second Test and he retains his place in an unchanged bowling attack with Nottinghamshires Jake Ball once again missing out and having to settle for 12th man duties as the selectors resist the temptation to experiment. Sky Sports commentator Sir Ian Botham had suggested England could give Ball his debut in place of Woakes or Steven Finn, but Cook has stressed the need for consistency. It will be the same team as at Durham, said Cook. We won the game, had some good performances and consistency in selection is a big part of our thinking. It gives people chances to show what they can do in England shirts and you want people to feel as comfortable as they can. Its never going to be perfectly comfortable when you are on the periphery of trying to cement your place but thats international cricket. Alastair Cook thinks bowler Steven Finn will impress for England in the third Test against Sri Lanka But you dont want people always to be looking over their shoulder - when they get a chance they get a good run.Middlesex fast bowler Finn took just one wicket in the second Test but Cook is happy to stick with him on his home ground. Lacklustre at Lords? Can England improve their mixed recent record at Lords? Cook said: When Steven is on song, I believe he is up there with our three best seamers in the country. We saw last summer against Australia when he bowled, he bowled fantastically well. This winter when he played he was absolutely outstanding. Its not always perfect, you can take James Anderson as an example. He struggled a little bit, even by his own admissions, in South Africa for rhythm. Then for whatever reason he comes back and he is bowling as well as he has done probably in his career. Steven Finn bowls during an England net session at Lords It is never perfect. You dont get 11 guys at the top of their game the whole time. But what we do know is that Steven has the ability to take wickets. He has always done that and when he clicks he is a very hard bowler to face.He hasnt quite nailed it in these two Test matches but Ive seen glimpses in the nets. Just facing him now I have a great bruise on my leg and he should be very comfortable here at Lords.  England team: Cook (capt), Hales, Compton, Root, Vince, Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Woakes, Broad, Finn, Anderson. Also See: Beefy: Time to experiment Ball dreams of making debut Broad: We want to be feared Ramps: Plenty to play for Jussi Jokinen Jersey . Both sides came closest to scoring in the first half, when Roma had a goal from Mattia Destro waved off for offside and Inters Rodrigo Palacio headed high. "A draw was a fair result. Neither squad had many chances," Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic said. Bill Ranford Jersey . -- Steven Stamkos scored his first goal since returning from a major injury, Ryan Callahan had his first goal with Tampa Bay, and the Lightning beat the Florida Panthers 5-4 on Thursday night. http://www.oilersauthority.com/authentic...rs-jersey/ . Kyle Shanahan was hired as offensive co-ordinator Monday after spending the previous four years in the same role with the Washington Redskins.MIAMI -- Chris Bosh had another postgame scream. For the Miami Heat, that was outstanding news. LeBron James scored the last of his 32 points on a layup that put Miami up for good with 11.4 seconds left, Bosh capped his 30th birthday by blocking Damian Lillards layup on the final play, and the Heat blew a 17-point fourth-quarter lead before beating the Portland Trail Blazers 93-91 on Monday night. "If you talk it, you back it up," James said. "Thats what its about. We have guys in here that will deliver the words and then go back it up. That was big-time on his part." Bosh ripped into Miami after a loss at New Orleans on Saturday, saying the Heat arent playing with passion, among other colorful sentiments. He screamed again Monday, this time in celebration as time expired. "This games about passion," Bosh said. "As hard as it is during the dog days to muster it up, the spark has to come from somewhere." Wednesday wont be one of those dog days. Miami visits Indiana with a chance to close within one game in the Eastern Conference race. The Pacers lost in Chicago on Monday night. "I miss the Pacers," Bosh said. Bosh finished with 15 points and Chris Andersen had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Miami, which won for just the fifth time in 12 games. Mario Chalmers added 11 points for the Heat. Lillard led the Blazers with 19 points on 3-for-15 shooting. Mo Williams scored 17, Wesley Matthews had 15, Nicolas Batum 11 and Robin Lopez 10 for Portland, which was down 17 with just more than 9 minutes remaining. "I thought I had a pretty good look at it but Chris Bosh made a great play," Lillard said of his final shot. "He met it at the top. He went up and got it. I saw him -- thats why I floated it. I didnt think he would be able to get to it. But he met it at the very top." The Blazers shot 11 for 39 from 3-point range, taking only 35 shots from inside the arc. "Were tired of losing close games, but you cant help it to be proud of the way we competed," Portland coach Terry Stotts said. "It would have been easy to fold things up, but thats not in our DNA. Darnell Nurse Jersey. " Miami was without Dwyane Wade for the 19th time this season, though this absence wasnt part of the season-long maintenance program designed to help his knees. Wade tweaked an ankle last week in Boston. James was on the court getting shots up for about 15 minutes with less than an hour remaining until tip-off. With his earbuds on, sweat rolling off and surrounded by three ballboys, James worked on step-back jumpers, post moves and free throws, yelling twice at himself during one stretch in which he missed three straight from the line. It was obvious: Hes had it with this Heat slide. And Heat coach Erik Spoelstra wanted the four-time MVP aggressive, so much so that he met him on the way to the bench during a first-half timeout and gave him a two-handed shove. "Just wanted him to continue to attack," Spoelstra said. James took 12 shots in the first quarter, tying his career high for an opening period. He made only four of them, three of those being dunks, and wasnt shy about expressing his frustration after a couple of plays. But he got on his customary roll in time. James made seven of his next eight from the floor, and the Heat turned a six-point deficit in the first half into an 11-point lead in the third. An 11-2 Miami run to end the half -- James had six of those points -- sent the Heat into the locker room up 46-42, and another run opened the third. Miami scored 13 of the first 19 points in the third, with Bosh getting nine and James scoring two before setting up Greg Oden for a dunk that capped the burst and gave the Heat a 59-48 lead. And for Oden, Monday carried extra significance, since he was facing the team that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2007. The lead was still 11 entering the fourth, and Miami opened the final quarter with a 6-0 run that pushed the lead to 78-61 with 9:15 remaining. It was hardly over, but Bosh and James wound up saving the Heat. NOTES: Chalmers tweaked his right knee and left in the first quarter after taking a misstep along the row of photographers who sit just behind the baseline. ... LaMarcus Aldridge (back) missed his sixth straight game for Portland. MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings have taken another one of their priority free agents off the market before it opens, agreeing to terms on a five-year contract with defensive end Everson Griffen that features $20 million guaranteed and a maximum value of $42. Custom Kansas City Royals Jerseys .5 million. A person with direct knowledge of the deal confirmed the details to The Associated Press on Sunday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the Vikings havent announced the deal. The NFL free-agent signing period starts Tuesday. The Vikings also agreed to terms on a one-year contract with middle linebacker Jasper Brinkley, according to another person with direct knowledge of that deal who spoke to the AP on Sunday on condition of anonymity because the Vikings havent confirmed the agreement. Brinkley played for the Arizona Cardinals last season. Two days ago, the Vikings reached a two-year deal with quarterback Matt Cassel worth as much as $10 million. The 26-year-old Griffen, a fourth-round draft pick from USC in 2010, has an opening to become a full-time player with the departure of four-time All-Pro Jared Allen, who will officially become a free agent on Tuesday and wont be re-signed. Allen and Brian Robison have been the starting defensive ends for almost Griffens entire NFL career, though he has seen extensive action as a situational pass rusher and on special teams. Griffen is getting paid more for his potential at a critical position in this pass-driven league than for actual production. He had 5 1/2 sacks last season, down from eight in 2012. But he has the speed and athleticism to become a force if he can continue to develop, after making major strides in maturity in overcoming some off-the-field struggles including the sudden death of his mother in 2012. Brinkley rebounded from a serious knee injury in 2007 at South Carolina to be drafted in the fifth round by the Vikings in 2009. After missing the entire 2011 season following major hip surgery, Brinkley bounced back again to become a first-time NFL starter in 2012. He hit free agency the next year and signed with the Cardinals. Brinkley played in 15 games last season and started when Pro Bowl pick Darryl Washington served a suspension for violating the NFLs substance abuse policy, but the Cardinals cut him last month to create more space under their salary cap. So hes used to playing under this type of prove-it circumstance. "They let me know the jobs wide open and its not going to be handed to anybody," Brinkley said. "Everybody has an equal opportunity to earn that spot." As the depth chart currently stands, prior to the actual opening of the free agent market and of course the draft, Brinkley will be in competition with Audie Cole for the starting middle linebacker spot. In the "Tampa Two" defence the Vikings used to use, linebackers had deep drops in zone pass coverage and Brinkley was sometimes exploited. Brinkleys skill set ought to better fit the scheme under new coach Mike Zimmer. "Minnesota has always been home for me. It has a significant place in my heart. I was raised on the frozen tundra," Brinkley said in a phone interview with the AP, foreshadowing the wintry conditions the Vikings could experience late this year at the University of Minnesotas outdoor stadium while their replacement for the Metrodome is under construction. From former Cincinnati cornerback Johnathan Joseph, a fellow South Carolina alumnus, Brinkley received a favourable report of Zimmer, who was Josephs defensive co-ordinator with the Bengals. "Hes a defensive guy. Hes a straight shooter. Hes going to tell you how it is. He does magical things with his defensive guys," Brinkley said. Justin Grimm Jersey . Last July, F1 teams held in-season testing sessions at Silverstone to assess new tires provided by Pirelli after several blowouts on the same circuit at the British Grand Prix in June prompted a furious response from drivers and even a boycott threat the following week. Jason Hammel Jersey . “Momentum is only as good as the next days starter,” the long-time Baltimore Orioles manager famously quipped. http://www.royalsteamproshop.com/Royals-...ds-Jersey/ . Quarterback Drew Willy appeared to injure his throwing hand on the third last play of practice Thursday.LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- For Rory McIlroy, the shockingly bad shot came out of nowhere. No worries. By the time he walked off the 18th green, there was little doubt he was still the man to beat at the PGA Championship. McIlroy ripped off four straight birdies on the back side and closed with another at the 18th hole, shooting a 5-under 66 at Valhalla that left him one shot off the lead Thursday. Fridays second round coverage begins with live streaming on TSN.ca at 8:30am et/5:30am pt while TSNs coverage begins at 1pm et/10am pt. Coming off wins at the British Open and Firestone, McIlroy came into the final major of the year as an overwhelming favourite. Even with a major blunder at the 10th, where he knocked his second shot over a fence and took double bogey, he was right on the heels of Lee Westwood, Ryan Palmer and Kevin Chappell. "Im really happy with everything," McIlroy said. "Ive got a good thing going right now. Im trying to ride that momentum as much as I can." Then theres Tiger Woods, who cant seem to get anything going. Playing just four days after his back flared up at Firestone, forcing him to withdraw, Woods proclaimed himself fit but sprayed shots all over the course on the way to a 74 that left him tied for 111th late in the day. "That wasnt very good," said Woods, who made only one birdie -- and had to hole out from the fairway to do that. "A lot of bad shots." One landed in a creek. Another sent the gallery scrambling. Yet another rolled into a fenced-off area where fans can use cellphones, a good 30 yards right of the fairway. Too bad Woods couldnt call for help. "I didnt play as well as I wanted to. I didnt get a putt to the hole," he said. "Thats not a good combo." McIlroy was cruising along when he got to the 10th, having made three birdies on the front side. After putting his tee shot right in the middle of the fairway at the par-5 hole, he yanked the next one out of bounds. A man talking on his cellphone along the fence, not concerned at all with getting in the way, was stunned with he looked up to see a ball sailing over his head. Especially when he learned whose ball it was. "I was really annoyed," McIlroy said. "That second shot at 10 is the worst shot Ive hit in weeks. It came out of the blue." He took a penalty and a drop and missed the fairway with his next attempt as well, resulting in a 7. Still shaken by that miscue, McIlroy made bogey at No. Salvador Perez Jersey. 11 to slip to even on the day. Just like that, he pulled himself together. Four straight birdies pushed McIlroy right back up the leaderboard, and it could have easily been five in a row. A 12-footer slid over the edge of the cup at the 16th. At the final hole, McIlroy reached the green in two for an eagle try to share the lead. If curled off at the end, leaving him with a tap-in -- his eighth birdie of the round. "It could have been better," he said. "But a 66 the first day, thats a solid start." Westwood matched his best round ever at a major, making nine birdies as he carried over the momentum from a closing 63 at Firestone. The 41-year-old Englishman also had a double bogey on his 10th hole of day -- at No. 1, after starting on the back -- but closed with four straight birdies. "The golf course was all there in front of me. I just play it as I see it," said Westwood, who has had numerous close calls but never won a major championship. "Last week, I felt like I turned a corner." Chappell, a 28-year-old Californian in his fourth year on the PGA Tour, turned in a bogey-free round. The final major of the year has produced some unlikely champions -- remember Shaun Micheel? -- and Chappell hopes to be the latest. "I cant complain about being in the lead of any golf tournament," said Chappell, whose only professional win came on the Web.com Tour in 2010. "I just look forward to keeping it rolling." Palmer birdied five of the nine holes on the back side, which is where he started his round. He said the greens were more inviting than he expected. "I was surprised how soft they were," he said. "It was a pretty easy, relaxing nine for me." McIlroy was joined at 65 by Jim Furyk, Henrik Stenson, Edoardo Molinari and Chris Wood. For Furyk, it was another strong start in a tournament he nearly won a year ago. He took a lead to the final day at Oak Hill, only to lose to Jason Dufner by two strokes. Dufners title defence lasted only 10 holes. Plagued by a sore neck, he withdrew after a triple-bogey left his score at 8 over, probably ending his Ryder Cup hopes as well. He came in ranked No. 8 in the standings and hoping to somehow play well enough to stay in one of the nine qualifying spots. "I tried to do what I could to be able to compete some and give it a go," Dufner said, "but it is just pointless." CLEVELAND -- Hisashi Iwakuma kept his road record spotless with one minor blemish. Isaiah Oliver Falcons Jersey . Iwakuma pitched seven strong innings to stay unbeaten in road games since last July, leading the Seattle Mariners to a 5-2 win over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night. Iwakuma (9-5) improved to 9-0 with a 2.17 ERA in his last 14 road starts, the second-longest such streak in club history. The Japanese right-hander is 5-0 outside Seattle this season. "I didnt even know that," Iwakuma, speaking through a translator, said of his road perfection. "I dont what the secret is." Dustin Ackley hit a two-run double in Seattles four-run fourth against Trevor Bauer (4-6). Mike Zunino homered in the fifth for the Mariners, one of six teams scrapping for the ALs second wild-card spot. The Indians are 5-7 since the All-Star break and are trying to decide whether to be active before Thursdays trade deadline. Once again, Iwakuma didnt do anything to hurt himself. He allowed two runs and six hits, and only walked one -- his first free pass in six starts. The right-hander has walked just nine all season. "Im a little disappointed he walked a batter," joked Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon. "Hes pretty good. He did a nice job for us." Iwakuma went 35 2-3 innings and 139 consecutive batters without giving up a walk before he put Michael Brantley on with four consecutive balls in the first. McClendon laughed about Iwakumas stunning loss of control. "He doesnt mess around," McClendon cracked. "He gets it done and gets it out of the way." Fernando Rodney pitched the ninth for his league-leading 29th save, and 18th in 19 tries. The Mariners, who came in with the fewest runs scored in the AL, took a 4-0 lead in the fourth when they hit three doubles off Bauer. Kyle Seager opened the inning by bunting against the shift, pushing a ball down the third-base line. Bauer hit Zunino, and one out later, Corey Hart hit an RBI double. With two outs, Ackley ripped his double off the right-field wall to make it 3-0. Chris Taylor added another RBI double just over the glove of leaping left fielder Chris Dickerson. Zuninos 16th homer gave the Mariners a 5-0 lead in the fifth and chased Bauer, who had gone at least six innings in each of his previous four starts. Iwakuma dominated the Indians through four, but Cleveland got two runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Yan Gomes and Jason Kipnis run-scoring groundout. RUNNING AMOK The Mariners, who hadnt scored five runs in their past six games, improved to 39-10 when scoring four or more in a game. "Thats a good position for us," Ackley said. "When we get ahead, it gives us a better feeling and puts the pressure on them." BUSTED Seattle snapped a six-game losing streak in Cleveland. The Mariners last win at Progressive Field was on Sept. 19, 2011. NICE GRAB Seattle centre fielder James Jones ran down a drive by Nick Swisher and made a leaping catch before crashing into the padded wall in the seventh. TRAINERS ROOM Mariners: Left-hander James Paxton (strained back muscle) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and as long as there are no setbacks, he could start Saturday in Baltimore. He hasnt pitched in the majors since April 8. Indians: As centre fielder Michael Bourn rehabs his surgically repaired left hamstring, manager Terry Francona is trying to let the speedster recover at his own pace. Bourn has been on the disabled list since July 6, and its not yet known when he will go on a rehab assignment or be activated. Bourn took batting practice before Tuesdays game. ON DECK: Two of the ALs top pitchers match up in the second game of the series when Seattles Felix Hernandez takes on Clevelands Corey Kluber. Hernandez (11-2) has allowed two runs or less and pitched at least seven innings in 13 consecutive starts, an AL record. King Felix, though, is just 7-5 in his career against the Indians, with all five losses coming in Cleveland. Kluber (10-6) carried a perfect game into the seventh inning of his previous start. The team announced the move Thursday in a two-sentence statement that made no reference to the brawl during a game Tuesday at Salt Lake. Yet coming off consecutive series losses at St. Louis and Pittsburgh, Los Angeles needed some sort of spark as August approaches. The Dodgers found it in the ballpark of their biggest rival, and left the Bay Area in first place following an emphatic three-game swing. Trenton Cannon Jets Jersey . Im very excited about the playoffs, particularly in the Western Conference with amazing match-ups, as well as the wonderful local story in the Toronto Raptors. It should be a blast. Here are my predictions, but based upon my lousy prognostications during the NCAA Tournament, you might be better off going the other way on some of mine - particularly with the Raptors, who I hope and pray are able to win an incredibly difficult match-up. http://www.jetsrookiestore.com/Jets-Chri...on-Jersey/ . - The RBC Canadian Open will return to Glen Abbey Golf Club next year, marking the 27th time that the national open championship will be played at the Oakville, Ont.MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - Trevor Cox scored two goals and Marek Langhamer made 43 saves to lift the Medicine Hat Tigers over the Kootenay Ice 4-1 in Game 7 of their second round Western Hockey League playoff series Wednesday. SAN FRANCISCO -- Colin Kaepernick let his guard down just enough to razz Michael Crabtree about not scoring on a flashy 60-yard catch and run in his season debut. Madison Bowey Jersey . At last, Kaepernick has his receiving corps intact, just in time for the stretch run. Crabtrees return opened up the field all the more for Anquan Boldin -- not to mention Vernon Davis and his high-hurdle show -- in the San Francisco 49ers 23-13 victory against St. Louis on Sunday. Boldin caught nine passes from Kaepernick, Crabtree made his long-awaited debut six months after Achilles tendon surgery, and the 49ers pressured the Rams defence from every angle. Next up: NFC West nemesis Seattle in a week at Candlestick Park. "Were very eager," safety Donte Whitner said. "They embarrassed us last time." Kaepernick went 19 of 28 for 275 yards and Frank Gore ran for a 3-yard touchdown as the reigning NFC champion Niners (8-4) boosted their position in the playoff picture. Crabtree had that 60-yard catch, while Davis hurdled into the end zone on a 17-yard touchdown reception. "I wish I would have scored," Crabtree said. "I was supposed to take that to the house." With Hall of Famer Jerry Rice in the house, Boldin had six receptions in the first half on the way to his second-most productive game of the year behind his 13-catch performance in the season opener against Green Bay. He, too, teased Crabtree about not getting into the end zone. "We give him a pass on that one; Thanksgiving was this week," Boldin quipped. Crabtree, San Franciscos leading wide receiver during last seasons Super Bowl run, had two catches. Just having him on the field kept the St. Louis defence from focusing all its attention on Boldin and Davis. Davis displayed his athleticism with a new signature move, and did so not once but twice: a high hurdle over defenders. He led with his right foot while leaping over safety Rodney McLeod in the first half, then again to reach the end zone on his team-leading 10th touchdown catch. Davis also was tackled by T.J. McDonald with a prolonged, painful grab to his crotch. That was a first in his career. "I was hurting," Davis said. Phil Dawson kicked three field goals, and San Franciscos swarming defence made things tough on Kellen Clemens all day. The Rams managed only 73 total yards in the first half. Clemens went 19 of 37 for 218 yards with a late TD pass in a dismal afternoon for the Rams (5-7), who were trying for their first three-game winning streak of the season. "There were some plays out there that we had opportunities to make which would have gotten us into a little bit of a better rhythm offensively," Clemens said. "We didnt make them." A year after the teams left Candlestick with a 24-24 tie, the 49ers methodically took care that it didnt happen again. They made it consecutive commanding victories in a short week following a 27-6 win at Washington on Monday night that snapped a two-game skid. "All the pressure, all the high stakes this time of the year, I thought our guys answered the bell on that," coach Jim Harbaugh said. While Kaepernick was sacked four times, Robert Quinn and the opportunistic Rams defence failed to make the game-changing plays it had the past two weeks -- even when 49ers left tackle Joe Staley was lost to a right knee injury early in the game. The St. Louis defensive line had scored touchdowns in each of the past two games. The Rams thwarted drives with costly penalties, settling for a 43-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein just before halftime in their best drive of the half. Zuerlein kicked a 34-yarder in the third quarter. After a debated 15-yard personal foul penalty on Jo-Lonn Dunbar when he ran into a sliding Kaepernick, the quarterback completed a 23-yard pass to Davis. Dawson kicked a 32-yard field goal. He added a 43-yarder early in the second period, then a 24-yard field goal in the third. The Rams managed 11 total yards in the first quarter and 73 in the first half. The 49ers held the Rams in check before the second-team defence surrendered Brian Quicks 3-yard touchdown catch with 18 seconds remaining. Crabtree had a pair of penalties in San Franciscos opening series, an illegal block to the back and an offensive pass interference. "I had to get those jitters out," he said. NOTES: 49ers TE Vance McDonald injured an ankle in the first quarter. ... St. Louis lost left tackle Jake Long late in the third quarter to a concussion after he collided into running back Zac Stacy, who played after dealing with concussion-like symptoms following a win against the Bears. Rams C Scott Wells also suffered an ankle injury. Andre Burakovsky Jersey . Weise left the arena with a splint on his wrist and underwent tests to determine whether the tendon is torn. Winger Travis Moen will also miss some time after suffering a concussion in Mondays contest. Matt Niskanen Jersey . -- Kansas City Royals right-hander Luke Hochevar will have Tommy John surgery that will sideline the pitcher for the season. http://www.capitalsauthority.com/authent...ls-jersey/ .com) - Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was named the National League Player of the Month for April.HALIFAX - Nikolaj Ehlers had two goals and two assists and Jonathan Drouin had four assists as the Halifax Mooseheads downed the visiting Gatineau Olympiques 6-2 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action. Drouin currently leads the playoffs in scoring with six goals and 19 points in six outings while Ehlers is second with six goals and 16 points in six games. Philippe Gadoury, Andrew Shewfelt, Matt Murphy and MacKenzee Weegar also scored for the Mooseheads, who lead the second-round series 2-0. Zachary Fucale made 25 saves for the win. Martin Reway and Vincent Dunn each had a goal and an assist for the Olympiques and Robert Steeves stopped 25-of-31 shots in defeat. --- DRAKKAR 5 HUSKIES 2 BAIE-COMEAU, Que. -- Maxime St-Cyr had a pair of goals as the Drakkar beat Rouyn-Noranda to go up 2-0 in their second-round matchup. Valentin Zykov had a goal and an assist for Baie-Comeau while Alec Jon Banville and Frederic Gamelin had the others. Braden Holtby Jersey. Philippe Cadorette made 20 saves for the Drakkar. Jack Nevins and Marcus Power supplied the scoring for the Huskies as Alexandre Belanger stopped 42-of-46 shots, including a Jeremy Gregoire penalty shot at 15:44 of the third period. --- FOREURS 4 VOLTIGEURS 3 (OT) VAL-DOR, Que. -- Louick Marcotte scored 2:04 into overtime as the Foreurs took Game 2 to even their second-round clash with Drummondville at a game apiece. Anthony Richard, Anthony Beauregard and Olivier Galipeau also scored for Val-dOr and Antoine Bibeau made 34 saves for the win. Olivier Caouette forced overtime for the Voltigeurs with a goal at 19:19 of the third period while Joey Ratelle and Matthew Boudens had the others.
